Coffee Cluck by Feigon Hamilton - "How I Made The Impossible Happen" - Showcase
Would you like to participate in our latest adventure? We would like to share your stories of “How you made the impossible happen” on our blog and website. We can showcase your story with a picture of yourself, name and title if you are interested.
The stories should be relatively confidential but we can always edit for that. They should express how you executed a request or a desire of your employer, from A-Z, from conception to completion. Only you knew the complexities involved and they were the ...

Coffee Cluck by Feigon Hamilton ~ Happy Holidays 12.21.2009
Gail and I have our coffee's heated up and are ready to reflect on this last year. Whew, one thing we can say is that we are glad it is over. Tick tick tick, count down begins. Good news is that we are getting new job orders for grounds managers, chefs, household managers, nannies and more. The clients will be initiating their orders for the beginning of 2010. Bad news, you guys have to wait for 2010. Good news, you get to spend the holidays relaxing and enjoying yourselves because you have something ...

Coffee Cluck - Household Staff and Vendors' Excuses and Attitudes by Feigon Hamilton 10.30.09
Thinking about this topic over and over again, all through this week and last, I just had to write about it. It was stimulated by my own experience with a vendor. I can imagine how our clients feel due to the fact that they have multiples of my few vendors/employees on a daily basis all over their properties.
No matter how many layers of managers you have between you and the staff, though many are direct reports, when you have to monitor your employee’s work, it is challenging. Whether you are ...

Coffee Cluck - Employment protocol when you are sick by Feigon Hamilton 10.21.09
So here we are at the foot of the flu season again. Articles are being posted about the swine flu and there are signs up at every pharmacy advertising that they have the flu shot. Personally I am not fond of needles so I won't be volunteering for protection against the "possibility" of something that hasn't come my way yet. I am also not an extremist or into dramas. I don't get caught up in scare tactics.
All opinions aside, what do you when working closely with other staff and your employer's family ...

Coffee Cluck - Tattoo Art and Household Staffing by Feigon Hamilton
This was Sunday coffee time instead of the work week. Seems like I work everyday if you think about it. Probably like all of you, I check voicemail and emails to make sure there are no fires to put out or anyone in great need. Sunday is my day to read the paper from cover to cover. I read section by section until I get to the classified and quickly flip through until I come to the articles by Eli Amdur and D. Christopher Jenkins. There is always something of value in each of these gentlemen's words. ...

Coffee Cluck - Resumes and friends by Feigon Hamilton 8.31.09
Choking down that last cup of coffee this morning, hard dealing with a lousy bean. I should have known better when I was trying to save money and bought that "cheap" brand at Costco. But it was such a deal, twice the size for half the price at Whole Foods. Oh my, you get what you pay for. I probably spent the same amount of money when I added crème and sugar to it just to make it palatable.
So here we are, another Monday and a short week at that since Labor Day is looming. Looming I mean only ...

Coffee Cluck - How to add or keep working with a recruiter as one of your networking tools by Feigon Hamilton 8.12.09
Drinking my coffee and reading the newspaper again this morning I have to sit for a moment before I open my “desk” for the day. I want to reflect over the slew of emails that we keep receiving. I am not sure if I am ready to step on the battlefield again without my gear on. It is just another day and there are sure to be 100’s more of the same. How am I going to keep my smile on and continue to help people? What, help? You might be asking yourself right now, recruiters helping people, huh??
We put ...

Coffee Cluck - Do you talk too much? by Feigon Hamilton 8.5.09
Are your candidates talking too much in the interview? Are they losing the opportunity to move forward in the interview process because of this? Are you as a recruiter passing on them?
This has been the topic of conversation on numerous recruiting blogs and group discussion areas. Many recruiters are passing. Why you ask? Because there are so many A++ candidates out there on the market that don't. They know how to assess their audience, they are polished, they are solid, they are comfortable in the ...

Coffee Cluck - The Cycle of Hiring by Feigon Hamilton 7.31.09
Last day of the month, closing in on the end of summer. Our clients should be coming back from their holidays and begin again to think about staffing needs. Nannies first, housekeepers second and other positions will fall in place after that. Historically the flow of busy and quiet months just happens. Summer is quiet, fall is busy, winter is quiet, time to keep staff, January is the shuffle begins again through the end of spring. Add the economic challenges to all of this and we start questioning ...
